LOGLINE

A fan and an idol support each other, growing from admiration to partnership.

My Idol challenges the one-sided perception of the fan-idol relationship. Fans gain courage from artists, while artists often continue chasing their dreams because of fan support. The story combines the entertainment industry, public scrutiny, online culture, inspirational growth, romance, and the warmth of Korean-Malaysian cultural exchange.

SYNOPSIS

One scandal. One fan. One reason to keep going.

At a fan meeting, top idol Ahn Ji-Hyun humiliates the fan of rookie actor Choi Chen-Huan. Chen-Huan tries to protect his fan, but the conflict becomes a physical altercation and the media brands him as hot-tempered and disrespectful. His company suspends him indefinitely.

Depressed and close to quitting acting, Chen-Huan fails to notice that his top fan and fan group leader, Liyana, has been collecting positive videos, photos, and support posts to help him survive the backlash. When he finally sees the effort behind her support, he regains his will to act and slowly rebuilds his confidence.

Years later, Liyana joins a Malaysian film company and works on a drama connected to Chen-Huan's friend. Chen-Huan finds her again, visits Malaysia, and reunites with her across streets, night markets, and film sets. Their relationship grows through humor, cultural difference, and the charm doll she once made for him.

When another anonymous scandal exposes his private life and romance, Chen-Huan fights to clear his name. At a film festival, nominated for Best Actor, he thanks his fans and Liyana, and finally chases after the woman whose support helped him stand again.
